The main railway terminal Volgograd 1 was built in the mid-19th century and is situated in the very centre of Volgograd. The modern building was constructed in the place of the original brick building destroyed at the time of the Stalingrad battle. The central part of the three-storeyed terminal building features a spired tower. The façades are faced with marble, inkerman stone and granite. Inside the terminal are two halls – a ticket hall and a waiting hall.
The railway complex is part of the Volgograd Department of the Privolzhskaya Railways. Every day the terminal provides service to 120 trains (including suburban trains) carrying over 11,000 passengers.
